So! I just recently heard something of total and utter fail.
I'm kind of really hoping this is like, some sort of sick April Fools joke. I mean, it's just made of that much fail, you cant possibly believe that Congress is this stupid, but you know.. then again....
Heres a link to a journal entry explaining everything: [link]
So, basically, what's going on is, congress is making it legal to be an art thief. -Ah! I just went to our government's website and looked it up. It's real. Congress is this stupid.
But let's not let it pass, alright? This is called the Orphan Works bill. It means that whatever we draw, sketch, doodle, illustrate, photograph, anything, than the moment we finish drawing or whatever, it no longer belongs to us. Instead, it belongs to whoever wants to use it. This includes family pictures, music, writings, everything.
What a load of B.S., seriously.
Here, I feel guilty if I just quote something somebody else had told me without their permission.
They're doing this so that we can BUY rights to our own crap. We can buy the rights of our artwork, and this is suppose to, quote, unquote, protect it from being taken by anything. But that is not the case, completely, because you can just say you didn't know how to come into contact with the artist, and that'll make it alright. I ask you friends- WTF?
And as for those of you who are not American, this still affects you. Cause if this bill passes, then an American can take you're art and you can't do anything about it because it's legal here. You can help out by making more people aware.
Though, for Americans- here's a link to contact the Big Guys. Since we're the artists, it's up to us to make sure that this bill doesn't get passed. This is our time to say something. [link]
Edit: And those who believe this is good, that all we have to do is buy our own rights, and then, oh, glory! Our art is protected! May I remind you; not everybody has money. I for one, dont really, no. If I want somebody to use my art, I'll put it up for Stock. Soon though, I wont have the money to keep it out of stock if this passes. The only possible reasoning I can see for the government to do this, aside from taking our money, is to allow people to use art from a creator they cant find. - But we shouldnt be using their artwork anyway. If you cant find the creator, DONT USE IT. JFiojdskofj iaohfidojf ajkfljds frustrated.
Edit 2: Yeyana has been so kind as to handing me this link which takes a lot of pressure off of the situation. [link] I still dont like it though. It makes me feel icky, and wrong, and unjust!

On an unrelated note, for those of you who have been patient, we're about to get Sri out to ya, and we've began working on Hospital Jello again, and we're almost done.
Um... What else...
On hold right now, Dev and I are working on a kinda ZADR fic called "Stripped" which I dont advise you reading.. and uh, we're working on an OC story called "As Luck Would Have It."

I mean, I'm sure lots of people are going to be outraged about this, so even if it DOES become a law, people will get angry and stop it. Hopefully.
